Knockshee Lodges ("we", "us", "our") operates this Site, built on Wix, and takes bookings through Smoobu. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

 

1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect

  • Booking & guest data: name, contact details (email, phone), booking dates, number of guests, and any notes you provide — collected via Smoobu when you make a booking enquiry or reservation.

  • Payment data: handled directly by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe/PayPal) or via the booking channel (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com); we do not store full card details on our servers.

  • Website & technical data: IP address, browser type, and general usage data, collected automatically by Wix (our website hosting platform) to run and secure the Site.

  • Cookies & consent choices: Wix uses essential cookies to run the Site (e.g. security, load balancing) and may use additional cookies for analytics or marketing if enabled. We use Usercentrics as our cookie consent banner, which records the date/time of your visit and your consent (or refusal) choices, along with basic device information, so we can demonstrate compliance with consent laws — see our Cookie Notice/banner for details.

3. Why We Use Your Data (Lawful Basis)

  • To respond to enquiries and manage your booking (contract)

  • To keep the Site secure and prevent misuse (legitimate interest)

  • To send booking confirmations and, where you've opted in, marketing emails (consent / legitimate interest)

  • To comply with tax, accounting, and (where applicable) guest registration laws (legal obligation)


4. Who We Share Data With

  • Smoobu (Smoobu GmbH, Berlin, Germany) — our booking management software, used to store and process guest and reservation data. See Smoobu's Privacy Policy for details.

  • Wix.com Ltd. — our website hosting provider, which processes technical and usage data to run the Site. See Wix's Privacy Policy for details.

  • Payment processors (to take payment)

  • Usercentrics GmbH (Sendlinger Str. 7, 80331 Munich, Germany) — our cookie consent management provider, which processes your consent choices (date/time, consent status, device info) to comply with our legal obligation to document consent (Art. 7(1) GDPR).   • We do not sell your personal data.

5. International Transfers

Some providers above (including Smoobu, based in Germany, and Wix, which may process data outside the UK/EEA) may process data outside your home country. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

6. How Long We Keep Data

We keep booking and guest data for as long as needed to fulfil legal, tax, and accounting requirements, then delete or anonymise it.

  • Request deletion ("right to be forgotten")

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Data portability
